Let's Listen to a Story!
Listening is one of the most important skills in language learning, especially for young children. Through stories, children are exposed to new vocabulary, sentence structures, and pronunciation in a natural and enjoyable way.
One podcast that I highly recommend is Storynory. It offers a wonderful collection of stories, fairy tales, myths, and original tales read by native English speakers. The clear pronunciation and engaging storytelling make it an excellent resource for young English learners.
Podcasts can be used during quiet time, story time, listening activities, or even as part of a classroom routine. Listening to stories helps children develop their comprehension skills, improve concentration, and become familiar with the rhythm and sounds of the English language.
I particularly like Storynory because it encourages imagination and creativity while supporting language development. Children can listen to a story, discuss the characters, draw their favourite scene, or retell the story in their own words.
Benefits of using podcasts in the classroom:
Improves listening skills.
Expands vocabulary.
Develops comprehension.
Encourages imagination and creativity.
Exposes children to natural English pronunciation.
